Technology Advantages

Our primary competitive advantage is the patent pending technology developed by Dr. Hong He and Dr. Jackie Ying at MIT.  This technology provides for the composition of a steam reforming catalyst that provides the following five advantages:

  1. Decreased Process Temperature: Our catalyst fundamentally shows an increased catalytic activity at lower temperatures than traditional nickel-based catalysts.  This allows the reforming process to be run at relatively lower temperatures, saving energy and reducing operating costs.
  2. Lower Steam/Carbon Ratios: Our catalyst does not require high steam/carbon ratios to avoid coking.  Therefore, the production process can be run with less than 33% of the steam used in other processes and still exhibit less coking.  Since steam requires large amounts of energy to be produced, this results in significant operating cost savings.
  3. Faster Production Process: Due to our catalyst's high catalytic activity, it is possible to achieve the same throughput with lower residence time.  This speeds what is typically the most problematic bottleneck in the production process and allows a plant to increase its output without increasing costs.
  4. Increased Catalyst Life:  Due to its increased resistance to coking, our catalyst requires less frequent regeneration and can achieve overall longer catalyst life.  This also contributes to decreased operating costs.
